Top Tourist Attractions in Phnom Penh

Even when I was still in the boundary of Vietnam, I already can see how interesting and beautiful Cambodia is. I just couldn't wait to walk around, explore the place and enjoy every moment. We have decided to stay first in the capital city at least for a day and a night.

Phnom Penh is known to be the Charming City and Pearl of Asia for its beautiful and historical attractions. The Khmer architecture really shows a vibrant and unique style of the people of Cambodia.

There are a lot of structures to see in this place but here are some I have picked as the top tourist attractions in Phnom Penh that will surely give its charm.

1. The Royal Palace

The Khmer architecture could be seen excellently from the Throne Hall, Moonlight Pavilion, Silver Pagoda, Khemarin Palace and the charming structures and gardens inside the Royal Palace. It is open everyday from 730 to 1130 in the morning and 230 to 500 in the afternoon except on holiday.

2. Council of the Ministers

You might be mistaken of this golden building as a shrine or temple which I did, but it is actually the Council of the Ministers. It is just near the Royal Palace that is worth to look at. The view was taken at Wat Botum Park.

3. The statue of Lady Penh

Daun Penh was a wealthy lady who build a temple on the hill named Wat Phnom Daun Penh, and presently known as Wat Phnom. This is where Phnom Penh took its name. The statue of Lady Penh is just on the opposite side of Wat Phnom.

4. National Museum


National Museum
The National Museum is full of rich artifacts and cultural history of Cambodia. This museum is the largest in Cambodia and one of the world's largest collections of Khmer Art.
