The Amazing Spider-man That Surprises

No comments:
Just a short review about the Marc Webb's reboot movie of Sam Raimi's Spider-man film series.

Yes, my friend Paul and I have finally seen the Amazing Spider-Man last weekend. I have read a fair share of good and bad reviews, but here is what I have to say.

The Hunger Games vs Battle Royale

1 comment:

I have recently watched the much praised movie The Hunger Games. It was indeed a good movie to watch. It is about a deadly game, where the players must kill each other in order to win. Only one person can survive.

The Fairest of Them All

3 comments:

Mirror Mirror
Lily Collins as Snow White and Academy Award winner Julia Roberts as the evil queen.
March 30, 2012 (US Release Date)

Snow White and the Hauntsman
stars Kristen Stewart as Snow White and Charlize Theron, the queen antagonist
June 1, 2012 (US Release Date)

For me, both are visually entertaining. They both have astounding visual effects. However, the story comes in a different flavor. Mirror Mirror is more light toned which is cute. While the Snow White and the Huntsman is fierce and action-packed.

Who's gonna rank the fairest of the two in the box-office?

Hot Movies To Watch This November

4 comments:
This coming November is definitely overflowing with hotness on the big screen. Here are some of the movies I picked that would sizzle me for the month.

J. Edgar
Release Date: 11 November 2011
It's not just because it stars the hunky Titanic actor, Leonardo Di Caprio but also the even hotter director Clint Eastwood. Eastwood have been recognized for both his acting and directorial skills and to name a few great films under his belt are The Bridges of Madison County, The Departed, Million Dollar Baby. Watch the J. Edgar trailer here.

Immortals
Release Date: 11.11.11
Uhmmm, need I say more? Well, if you want more wallpapers, check them out on this facebook album.
I have always seen how glorious the Greeks are when it comes to mythology, now I just can't wait to see how they can immortalize the battle between the Titans and humanity led by Theseus (Henry Cavill).

Melancholia
Release Date: 11 November 2011
Another ambitious film to destroy the earth. Starring Kirsten Dunst who won Cannes Film Festival as Best Actress for her role of Justine. Opposite her is the True Blood hunky vampire Alexander Skarsgard who plays Michael, her husband.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1
Release Date: 18 November 2011
And finally, here comes S-E-X. (Hahah) I mean, here comes the first part of the last novel in The Twilight Saga series, the Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer. We've all been waiting for this happy ever after story for Bella Swan and Edward Cullen. And yeah of course, their honeymoon scene. :) Check their official website here.

My Week With Marilyn
Release Date: 18 November 2011
Michelle Williams is too hot to handle as she does the week for America's ultimate sex symbol and pop icon Marilyn Monroe.

Happy Feet Two
Release Date: 18 November 2011
Lastly and definitely not the least, is this cutie pie. One of the highest grossing animated film in the U.S. that comes in 3D is the 2nd sequel of Happy Feet starring Elijah Wood, Happy Feet Two.

How about you? What movies are you gonna catch up this November, tell me. :P

The Count, The Immortals and Superman

No comments:
There is no stopping the Greeks and superheroes to reign over the cinemas for the next few years. Two of the much awaited films is being done all by the same versatile actor. He is none other, Henry Cavill who just turned 28 this year.

He is from a young Henry Cavill on 2002's box office film The Count of Monte Cristo, playing the role of Albert Mondego, son of The Count.

Now, after the count, comes his upcoming movie The Immortals where he is a Greek god, Theseus chosen to protect his homeland and save the gods. The film is set to release 11.11.11.

Watch the official trailer here.

Another big project he has to offer is still on the works. The Man of Steel where he plays Clark Kent will regain its glory and become the hero the world known as 'Superman'. This movie will set to fly up, up and away June of 2013.

Here's a glimpse on the Man of Steel

Green Lantern 2011 Showing

No comments:
In brightest day, in blackest night,
No evil shall escape my sight
Let those who worship evil's might,
Beware my power... Green Lantern's light!

I really can't wait to watch this film. After Marvel has amazed most viewers with X-Men: First Class, a DC character will finally make way in the coming week. The much-awaited Green Lantern from DC and with Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, this superhero film is surely gonna give you a blast too.

For now, here's a trailer for the movie.

Green Lantern is scheduled to be released on June 17, 2011 in 3D.

Inception Weekend Bonding

My brother and I had a movie bonding this weekend at Shangri-la Plaza which we really enjoyed and kept us all night debating. The movie that buzzed the world -- almost got every positive reviews, kept on trending topics in Twitterverse for a long time and yeah, everyone else seems to be talking about it.

Its no other than Christopher Nolan's Inception starring Leonardo Di Caprio.

Well, I have to join everyone who have said everything good about it. Actually, I think I have no more words to say because they already did. This mind-boggling sci-fi thriller is surely a must-see film. I would have to agree with internet giant, Yahoo! that Inception is the best film of the year to-date.

The Legend of Korra: The Last Airbender Sequel for 2011

3 comments:
The much-awaited movie The Last Airbender by M. Night Shyamalan is now showing in Philippine Theaters nationwide.

I am all set and excited to see the movie with some friends. Though I have read and heard not-so-good comments about it, I would still want to see it for myself. Some said it was boring and some was not quite satisfied because it was all about water benders. Well, if so, I see another movie sequel for this, hopefully they continue the storyline that will be build on this now showing Last Airbender movie.

And yet even before I watched this movie, an update from Yahoo! News got me,
A sequel to Nickelodeon's "Avatar: The Last Airbender" is in the works.

The channel said Wednesday the new animated TV series will premiere in 2011. It has the working title, "The Legend of Korra."

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100721/ap_en_ot/us_tv_legend_of_korra
Rumors has it that Korra will be a girl and a waterbender. She will be the next avatar after Aang. Aang shall be her avatar mentor like how Roku was to Aang.

Wow, I think I'd be stuck for this animated series once again. Let's see... ;)

Ready for June 30: Would it be Noynoy or Twilight?

No comments:
In two days, Filipinos and the world will witness the inauguration of President-elect Benigno 'Noynoy' Aquino III and Vice-President-elect Jejomar “Jojo” Binay.

Oath-taking will be held at Quirino Grandstand that was committed by Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to finish the refurbishment just in time before the inauguration day.

PNP has declared the area a 'No-fly zone' and a thousand cops to be deployed for Aquino's inauguration activities.

'Bagong Pilipinas' is the inaugural song composed by Ogie Alcasid and Noel Cabangon to be performed by Alcasid himself, Jim Paredes, Mae Paner, Nina, Christian Bautista, Cabangon, Gary Valenciano and Regine Velasquez.

Noynoy has completed writing about an 8-10 minute inaugural address that would be short but substantial.

Even sister and Queen of All Media Kris Aquino had her share of preparation, leaving 'The Buzz' and 'SNN' in order to distance herself to any intrigues during his brother Noynoy's Presidency term.

Yes, the stage is set for this million-peso budgeted event.

However, the much-anticipated and much talked-about Twilight Saga: Eclipse is set to release on the same date. Movie tickets from various online sites and booths have been on sale. And the clash between the vampires and werewolves begins with Team Edward and Team Jacob.

Where will you be? Team Edward? Team Jacob? Or Team Noynoy or should I say Team Pilipinas?

Avatar: The Last Airbender Coming This July

No comments:
Following the animated television series, here comes Avatar: The Last Airbender, an action-adventure fantasy film that is set to realease this July of 2010.

Admittedly, I have followed this anime through gogoanime.com and completed the whole 61 chapters last year. I really enjoyed the adventure of Aang, together with his friends, lovely Katara and humurous Sokka. Aang must find a way to keep peace between the four elements of the world (Fire, Earth, Water, Air) during a 100-year war in which the Fire Nation has ruled.

I was thinking then if this anime can be brought to life on a big screen. Thanks to M. Night Shyamalan for making this real. With all the images and trailers that I am seeing now, this is gonna be one great movie and I just cant wait to see it.

Movie Marathon For One

4 comments:
Yes, I had a movie marathon all by myself. It was a total restday for me and I spent it just by watching the movies I have downloaded the previous days.

I wasn't bit lonely, I guess.
But it happened that the movies I randomly picked up was a bit sad. :(

Requiem For A Dream (2000)
- speaks about the lives addicted to different drugs that cause their imprisonement in a dream world of delusion and reckless desperation, which is then overtaken and devastated by reality.

The Color Purple (1985)
- the story of a young African American girl named Celie and shows the problems faced by African American women during the early 1900s; including poverty, racism and sex discrimination. In the end, God works on miraculuous ways.

The English Patient (1996)
- depicts a critically burned man, at first known only as 'the English patient' but slowly revealed that he is in fact a Hungarian geographer, who has very intense affair with a married woman ultimately brought about his present situation.

The Dark Knight beats the millions of Spiderman-3 last year, smashing the weekend record set selling an estimated $155.3 million worth of tickets. This surpassed the $151.1 million for "Spider-Man 3" during its first weekend in May 2007.

The Atonement of Briony Tallis

4 comments:
It started with a young girl named Briony. Briony Tallis had just done her first play, The Trials of Arabella which she regards it about "the complications of love".

At a young age, she have had an admiration with the son of their housekeeper, Robbie but Robbie was more inclined to her elder sister Cecilia. In fact, Robbie and Cecilia are in love. But never long enough, they had their struggles.

Robbie was wrongly accused by Briony of raping Lola, their cousin. But Cecilia never believe he is guilty because as she would say, her sister was subjected to telling stories.

Robbie was in prison and soon released but to join the army. Robbie was reunited with Cecilia before his deployment, and they renewed their love and he made a promise to return to her. Cecilia has refused contact to all of her family since they all believe in Robbie's guilt.

Briony happen to see that Lola would marry Paul Marshall, the friend of their elder brother Leon. Paul was once acquainted with them when they welcome Leon back in their estate. They had dinner and then was interrupted when Lola and her twin brothers had gone away back home. Immediately the family split up together to find them but then Briony witnessed Lola was beeing raped. This was the same night that Robbie was accused.

Briony realizes that it wasn't Robbie after all, but was Paul Marshall who have done it. She misinterpreted her sister's relationship with Robbie and that she made a disastrous mistake by accusing him. Briony now confesses with the two at June, to apologize directly and to withdraw her accusations. Robbie angrily confronted Briony. And the couple demanded to tell her family and the authorities the truth.

The story now shifts to a time where an elderly Briony is being interviewed for her later released novel, 'Atonement'. She stated that it is autobiographical though the ending was been changed. In reality, she says she never had the courage to see her sister to tell the truth. Also, Robbie had died at June first, the last day of the evacuation and Cecilia had been drowned in October. She gave chance to her sister and Robbie the hope and the happiness that they had deserved. Now, her novel serves as her atonement to the destructive acts that prevented the love of Robbie and Cecilia which she has always regretted.
