Top Tourist Attractions of Ayutthaya

14 comments:
Before Bangkok, Ayutthaya became the capital of the Kingdom of Siam. Before the royalty of Bangkok, there was the glory of Ayutthaya. Long time ago, this Kingdom was one of the biggest and wealthiest cities in the East as described by foreign traders. It is also sometimes called the Venice of the East. Now all is left is ruins, and this site is known today as the Ayutthaya Historical Park.

Our sweat were dripping hot as we troop around this Ancient City named as one of the UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991. There are several buddhist temples and point of interests that covers this old city. To begin with is Wat Mahathat.

Definitely, you should never miss out the Royal Adventure on your first travel to Bangkok. Well, for sure, you will be allured once you step down on the kingdom.

Here are more pictures from our Bangkok, Thailand trip.

The Grand Palace
The Grand Palace is a 218,400 square meters rectangular complex consisting of beautiful temples, museums, pavilions and other buildings that is only fit for a King. It is full of artistic and stunning architectures and treasures, leaving you an experience with a feel of royalty.

Olympics London 2012 Lighting of Torch

1 comment:
Today, the first thing I wanted to do is to watch the lighting of the torch for London 2012. Yes, the Olympics has officially began yesterday which was held in Olympic Park in Stratford, London. Previously, I have heard a lot of news about it for lack of security, unpreparedness and just about it.

So while I was browsing for the opening ceremony online and checking on YouTube for the video, I have crossed upon this instead, The Olympic Torch Cauldron Lighting History.

Eat Bulaga Indonesia Opening Theme

1 comment:
I just gotta blog this.

Well, as you might have heard of - Eat Bulaga, the longest running noontime variety show in the Philippines had been franchised by Indonesia's SCTV Network and started airing the show's first international version last July 16. This year makes Eat Bulaga, 33 years old and it's really nice to hear that it has been there to share the laughter and joy not only for the Philippines, but now together with our friendly neighbor, Indonesia.

I was just doing my daily round ups when I stumbled on this video. The opening theme song of Eat Bulaga! Indonesia! (I just know a bit of Indonesian words and learning the language, I think this is gonna be my first Indonesian song...)

Top Tourist Attractions in Phnom Penh

Even when I was still in the boundary of Vietnam, I already can see how interesting and beautiful Cambodia is. I just couldn't wait to walk around, explore the place and enjoy every moment. We have decided to stay first in the capital city at least for a day and a night.

Phnom Penh is known to be the Charming City and Pearl of Asia for its beautiful and historical attractions. The Khmer architecture really shows a vibrant and unique style of the people of Cambodia.

There are a lot of structures to see in this place but here are some I have picked as the top tourist attractions in Phnom Penh that will surely give its charm.

1. The Royal Palace

Ayutthaya: The Venice of the East

Wat Mahathat

It was nine thirty when we had our breakfast. This is our second day in Thailand and our itinerary for the whole day is Ayutthaya. I've listed this as a must-visit place when in Bangkok so I was really excited. My friends Ohm and Boy is our tourist guide around the place. We rode a taxi from the guest house to Victory Monument, and arrived there at around ten thirty. This is where the terminal of the minivan going to Ayutthaya is. We did not wait for a long time in the queue while the minivan needs to fill up 12 seats. I am not sure if this is a regular day or we were just lucky. Anyway, the travel time was around one hour to one and a half.

Bangkok: The City of Angels

12 comments:
This is the last leg of our Asian Adventure and officially our fourth day from Ho Chi Minh to Phnom Penh to Siem Reap. We are finally in Bangkok, Thailand.

We did not have any tour packages, just a few online researches and we just went on our own. Bangkok or Krung Thep in Thai literally means "City of Angels". The place is easy and the locals are just warm and friendly, I guess it adds up to that name they are called.

The Amazing Spider-man That Surprises

No comments:
Just a short review about the Marc Webb's reboot movie of Sam Raimi's Spider-man film series.

Yes, my friend Paul and I have finally seen the Amazing Spider-Man last weekend. I have read a fair share of good and bad reviews, but here is what I have to say.

For The Love of the Kingdom of Siam

2 comments:
Wrapping up our travel to the Land of Khmers, Phnom Penh and Siem Reap is really a timeless beauty. I am just so overwhelmed with the experience I got and I will definitely go back and have more time in that place.

We have already arranged a minivan going to our next destination at 1100 in the morning. We did not know there was a tuktuk waiting for us in our hotel. The tuktuk driver was outrage of the delay, while we were being transferred to another hostel. lol The minivan is stationed about 10 minutes away from our hotel. We were on the road at 1130 in the morning and the ride was really cool while we were listening to the local Khmer sound.

A view of Phra Sumen Fort from our Guesthouse

Now, we are really off to the place I have been wanting to see for quite a long time already - the Kingdom of Siam, or now known as Thailand.

Siem Reap: The Great Gate to Angkor

No comments:
From Paris of the Orient to the capital of the Land of Khmers, our Asian Adventure continues towards the Great Gate of Angkor, Siem Reap.

We have departed at Phnom Penh before midnight via bus. After 5 hours of travel, we saw our hotel guide waiting for us on the bus stop bearing our name. It was seven in the morning when we were greeted with warmth at the hotel.

After early check-in, we took our breakfast and got ourselves excited riding the tuktuk going to the gates of Angkor. It was a precious moment for me because this is one of the places I wanted to go before I die, my big dream to see the stunning beauty of the Angkor Wat and I was like overwhelmed with this excitement.

Shia LaBeouf Naked Transformation

The Transformers actor Shia Labeouf had transformed like you've never seen before. A heartbreaking (and naked) interpretive dance of Shia LaBuff and actress Denna Thomsen is shown on Sigur Rós' new video for “Fjögur Píanó”.

From Taiwan: Piliin Mo Ang Pilipinas

1 comment:
Before I continue my posts on the Asian Invasion that my kumare and I had, I just want to share once again this song by Angeline Quinto, "Piliin Mo Ang Pilipinas". My friend Tsai, from Taiwan is totally loving this tourism video promotion that was launched for Choose Philippines Campaign of ABSCBN.

Top Tourist Attractions in Ho Chi Minh

2 comments:
It was a little bit weird when we got to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. I have always known that as a tourist or a foreigner, I should never give away my passport to anyone in any foreign land. But the case is not always the same like in Ho Chi Minh. As you checked in to the hotel, your passport are being held in the reception until you checkout. Even in the travel buses, the conductor gets to keep them while you are on board. It was a bit uneasy like we were held as captives. But it did not stop us to enjoy the Parisian like city of Ho Chi Minh.

Here are my top tourist attractions in Ho Chi Minh, the Paris of the Orient.

Cambodia: The Land of Khmer

2 comments:

I barely knew Cambodia about its history, culture and its people. But I still got a memory of this beautiful place that captured me and got on my travel bucket list. I've seen it from the books and to the big screen Lara Croft: Tomb Raider starring Angelina Jolie. It is a treasure that have been known to the world, the grandeur of Angkor Wat.

Just what my fellow travel blogger, Chyng, said: "Summer is forever". And indeed it is. So here's for another Asian Travel, probably a continuation of my Amazing Race from Singapore to Malaysia after two years. Like what I said in this post, I will continue my Asian travel. This time to Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand. Actually from Singapore, you can travel to Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam with either a train, bus or coach and minivan as they are interconnected by Land.

Minsan

It's first of June. And yes, it's the month of Philippines' Independence. While I was running through my daily roundabouts, I bump through a nice piece to my Facebook wall and I've learned this is from Jonard Medina. I thought it is something worth to share with you guys, so here.

Minsan may Isang Puta
Jonard Medina

Nagkagusto at naakit.

May datung pa!

May nanghihinayang, namumuhi at naaawa.

Nag-aambisyon kami at nangangarap. Ayun, may mga anak ako na nasa Japan, Hong Kong, Saudi. Yung iba nag-US, Canada, Europe.

Tama man o mali.

May malasakit man, nahihilaw pa.

Penang for the Weekend

No comments:
When that fun filled weekend travel to Penang Island in Malaysia happened, I told myself this is not just gonna be a one-time experience. I mean, i felt like it was my second home already. So, when my kumare visited our friend Karen who is permanently residing there, I followed her for a long weekend this April. I took my backpack and in just a few while, I found myself on this bus from Singapore going to Penang Island.

How about a cup of coffee and a plate of cinnamon rolls on the side??

Batam Returns

I returned for another weekend to Batam last March to accompany some of my friends. Since my two companions were new to the place, I let them try to eat, shop and relax at Batam the same way we did last Chinese New Year.

GoodBuy Summer na ba talaga ?!? (referring to Cebupac's Promo for summer ender).

And before it really ends, here's a post just when we started our summer vacay. It was the month of hearts when my friends and I have booked for Phuket, Thailand. At first, I did not know much about Phuket but the Phi Phi Islands. I can still see a picture of a beautiful beach scenery of the famous DiCaprio film, The Beach, which was shot in this lovely place.

Not to forget, the place where the sad and tragic Indian Ocean Tsunami of 2004 occurred or what they call as Boxing Day.

Revisiting Mount Caniao

8 comments:
Finally, I am home. I am so glad to be back in my hometown. As promised, I would be going home at least twice a year. One for the mid year and another during Christmas and New Year season. Our relatives from Manila and Laguna were also in town as it was the big day of my younger brother. Aside from this event, I have also been looking forward for our outdoor activities as part of our bonding.

Remember when my siblings and I climbed Mount Caniao and how I managed to get down, now, WE'RE BACK!!

Is Jessica Sanchez the new American Idol

4 comments:
The finale of the eleventh season of American Idol is here. And like we have been telling #AmericanIdol #swag JChez is definitely not leaving since the drama on the top 7 week when the judges saved her. She definitely spiced up the whole competition and stayed for the Top 3. I haven't watched all the contestants in their elimination pieces but only Jessica Sanchez. All her performances, I have watched and liked her sound. I have some selected best performances from other favorite contestants though.

Run 350 for the Earth

6 comments:
So, I am a bit overdue of all the things I wanted to post due to some technical and personal matters. But here's to the travels and events I wanted to share in my upcoming posts:

January - My Christmas/New Year Holiday in my hometown/ *UPDATE: Chinese New Year at Batam, Indonesia
February - Phuket, Thailand
March - Batam, Indonesia
April - Penang Island, Malaysia
April 22 - Run 350 Event
April/May - Vietnam-Cambodia-Thailand

But to start with is the Run 350 event.

Eat, Shop and Relax at Batam

17 comments:
It was like my friends and I were going to Indonesia without any plans at all. Oh, we have. We planned to just figure it out when we touch down Batam. So there. As we arrive at Batam Centre Port, we checked some booths around the area offering hotel accommodations and travel packages. While I was inquiring to one of the receptionists, I thought being a millionaire in Indonesia is okay but being asked for a popular singer in the Philippines is more fun. While the reception is holding my personal details which revealed I have the same surname with this popular balladeer not only in Philippines but Southeast Asia. She could not help but asked my relationship to him. Well, I jokingly said he is a close relative to me, can't you see the resemblance? LOL She was referring to, Christian Bautista.

Anyway, we finally got our place to stay and now we are ready to explore the small but busy island of Batam.

There's not so much to go in Batam Island like a tourist attraction or a famous spot but this island nearest to the fine city, Singapore, definitely has something worth visiting for.

As the title suggests, here are the top three reasons to go in Batam Island, Indonesia.

Crimson Resort and Spa in Mactan Cebu

Oh, summer! summer! summer!

Enjoying the summer yet ?!? I bet it still heating up. While some would enjoy flaunting their hot and sexy bodies, others would just love to feel the sun and the beach, like me.. choz! Pinoy summer fun wouldn't be complete without a perfect place to stay in or to chill out. So hop in and let's take a ride...

Here's the second resort hotel I visited when I was resort hopping for a day in Cebu, Crimson Resort and Spa.

Breakfast Buffet at Imperial Palace

Imperial Palace Cebu houses a restaurant that will surely give a mouth watering experience that is Familia Restaurant. You can enjoy your plate with flavors of the world from Japanese to Western, or maybe Oriental for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Not to forget, the desserts that is most famous. Ready to dine in?

Jessica Sanchez Leaves American Idol

5 comments:
American Idol #swag and favorite Jessica Sanchez was voted in the bottom three with fellow Idol contestants Elise Testone and Joshua Ledet. Shocking as is, because Sanchez and Ledet are the front-runners of the show running on its 11th season. As Sanchez sang her last chance song, dramatically judges Jennifer Lopez, Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler rushed off the stage and stop her from singing and saved her from the elimination.

Here is the video of all the drama.

2011 Bintan International Kite Festival

4 comments:

I have never been into any kite festivals yet but I would definitely love to see such event like this. I still remember when I was a kid, I enjoyed flying my own kite throughout the fields and roofs of our house with my brother. It is a different feeling like you can just fly in the air and see the beauty from up above. That weekend getaway at Bintan made it possible.

Cebu Resorts Hopping For A Day

11 comments:
I have to say that Cebu is one of the loveliest places I've been. Not only they are winners of television reality show, Pinoy Big Brother (Slater Young just recently emerged as the big winner of PBB Unlimited, the first ever male winner for regular season) but also a winner of rich historical landmarks, paradise beaches and world class hotels and resorts.

Just in time for the hot summer season in the Philippines, is my post all about. It was my second time visit to Cebu that marked the start of my holiday vacation. A one whole day event of resort hopping to the most awesome resorts in Cebu. Just like what we did last time in Plantation Bay, we took each meal of the day in three different resorts. (For us to have a free tour of their resort as well. :P)

The Hunger Games vs Battle Royale

I have recently watched the much praised movie The Hunger Games. It was indeed a good movie to watch. It is about a deadly game, where the players must kill each other in order to win. Only one person can survive.

Draw Me Something and I Draw You Mine

2 comments:

So, there's this latest smartphone application that the town is getting crazy about. I have spent a low profile on the gaming apps since the Angry Birds but this new application known to the social network as Draw Something by OMGPOP has drove me back again to mobile gaming addiction. LOL. as if naman.

It's easy and it's crazy. You can just create a game and ask either your Facebook friends or a random social buddy to play with you. Then start drawing something and send it for them to guess. Once they guessed it correctly, you will be given coins. In turn, you'll have to guess their drawings for you to earn extra coins. Once you get more coins, you will have more color options for more vibrant drawings.

It is entertaining and fun. Since you get to interact to your social buddies by guessing each other's drawings. I get to laugh sometimes when my buddies draw me something like 'out of this world' that I find a hard time guessing about it and at the same time, laugh when my buddies can't guess a drawing I have created. Though sometimes it can get a little bit steamy.

It's addictive. What's good about it is, it's FREE. So make your way to download the app and experience the fun. This application is available via the App Store and Android Market.

LOL :P

Weekend Getaway To Bintan

20 comments:
My travel syndrome (or whatever you call it) struck me again just a few weeks before I head back home for a long Christmas holiday vacation. As the weekend approached, I asked my friends to join me this weekend to go for an escapade and without hesitation, they were up for it. Sounding like they have been wanting to wind and relax for a long time.

El Gamma Penumbra Choose Philippines for Fun

4 comments:
Choose Philippines is a project initiative of ABS-CBN Regional Network Group on promoting tourism in the country by providing information on travel, places, events, food, and people of the Philippines.

After the launch of this first geo-social networking website on 15th of April 2011, it was just in time El Gamma Penumbra, a PGT finalist and my PGT Season 3 Grand Winner bet, caught the eye of many by showcasing their talent in shadow play and aimed to uplift the Pinoy spirit and pride.

Then recently, I heard from my friend Anton here about this web sensation unveiling a new version of Choose Philippines music video using the song Piliin mo Ang Pilipinas composed by Allan Dannug, and arranged by Marvin Querido. The song was sung by Angeline Quinto and Vincent Bueno which inspired me to write the post I Choose Philippines Too..

The Fairest of Them All

Mirror Mirror
Lily Collins as Snow White and Academy Award winner Julia Roberts as the evil queen.
March 30, 2012 (US Release Date)

Snow White and the Hauntsman
stars Kristen Stewart as Snow White and Charlize Theron, the queen antagonist
June 1, 2012 (US Release Date)

For me, both are visually entertaining. They both have astounding visual effects. However, the story comes in a different flavor. Mirror Mirror is more light toned which is cute. While the Snow White and the Huntsman is fierce and action-packed.

Who's gonna rank the fairest of the two in the box-office?

The Thrill Ride To Penang Hill

I had pictures in my mind of Penang's train passing through hills and tunnels that will make me feel like I am in one of those Harry Potter films. I really want to experience that, so I asked my friend if she knows the place I was referring to and so we can pay a visit during my stay. That's when I heard about Penang Hill.

Almost all the prizes were already given away when we left from the venue of the Hard Rock to Rock Run event. By 9:30 in the morning, we were on our way home to recharge our batteries. But we ended up swimming when we arrived. LOL. I just couldn't resist the sun and their inviting pool. I really enjoyed the splash while my friend did me underwater shots. Here's one for you:

"I missed my runs."

Feeling athletic lang. lels

Seriously, I had my runs last 2010 and it was really cool to join such event together with my siblings. Well, it's not just about fun but being healthy. Like what experts say, we should have at least 150 minutes a week of exercises because this helps in reducing heart risk while it adds years to life.

I wasn't able to follow any events for the year 2011 since I was adjusting to my new environment. Not until my friend told me there will be an upcoming running event in their place. I was like asking her questions nonstop and finally I decided to join. She immediately registered me for the event.

This was my main reason why I went to Penang besides getting some fresh air. So as I've said earlier on my first day, we had hiking at Taman Negara for our preparation. Now, it's time to run.

Hiking at Taman Negara

Just before the year 2012 started, I was able to visit another island from Malaysia comparable to Singapore -- Penang Island.

My friend fetched me at Sungai Nibong Terminal, shortly as I arrived 7:40 in the morning. I had a few sleep around 10-hours travel via bus from Singapore to Penang but soon as we got to her place, I was with high spirits that I just wanted to go out and start the great weekend. We began touring her place which I eventually fell in love with.

Its More Fun in The Philippines and Best Tourism Slogans

4 comments:
The latest slogan for DOT is really more fun. That is because of the overflowing support I have seen in social networking sites. The slogan has been lauded in Twitter with the hash tag #itsmorefuninthephilippines and take note not only in the Philippines that it has trended but Worldwide. And as for my Facebook wall, I got this to share..

"Since we have already the It's more fun in the Philippines, maybe we can also have some of these Philippines domestic tourism slogans:

Online OEC for Balik Manggagawa

1 comment:
I got so excited for my holiday vacay in the Philippines that I totally forgot my OEC. Overseas Employment Certificate or OEC is what every OFW need to show to the immigration officer when they leave the country as proof of their employment overseas.

I only remembered it when I was having my Christmas dinner with friends and asked if I can get the OEC at the airport but I learned that if I will be exceeding for 5 days stay in the Philippines, I would be left with no choice but to get it from POEA. I only had less than two weeks, so I left my hometown for a day earlier just to process the requirement. My first time there and my first work to do for the year.

So I was there at 8:30 in the morning. As I entered the gate, I saw our kababayans piled up to this guy who gives the Balik-Manggagawa forms. After getting my own form, I entered the lobby of the Blas F. Ople Building and I was surprised with the huge crowd - busy with their own businesses. I did not want to panic. I went to see a table where I can fill up my form. I asked the assistance officer with things I am not cleared of. There were security guards who assisted us to the entrance of the hall where to process the OEC. While there was another one who announces the queue number so I went to ask him how the queueing works, he pointed the number marked on top of the form in my hand. I was in #907. They were still calling for #700 and below.

While I was waiting in the lobby, I was able to visit the Pagibig Center to ask if I would be required of such payments and if so, should I be able to process it from there. (Actually, the Pagibig forms are given together with the Balik-Manggagawa forms). The lady told me, I should have at least a month payment and if I wanted to pay it from there, this payment would just be deducted from the total payment when I get the OEC inside the hall. So I did.

When I finished, I went straight to the security guard and asked what number is being called already. Finally, I was able to enter the hall only to see another big crowd, waiting for their numbers to be shown on the screen. I was telling myself, 'I am gonna be stuck in here for a long time, seriously.' The place was like Divisoria. I heard a lot of our kababayans complain, that the current process is not that good compared to the previous. They were saying that before, there was only one queue in getting the OEC and less hours of processing. As for me, good thing, I was able to connect to their wifi while waiting for my turn.

The first process is Verification. There are about 17 windows upfront but some are closed, who supposedly are making sure the forms are filled up correctly with OFW supporting documents. The second process is to go to OWWA window for Assessment. This is where they compute how much you will pay. And lastly, is Payment. I paid for total amount of Php 1,200 for more than 4 hours of processing.

NOTE TO SELF: I should have never forgotten my OEC that I got from the embassy.

And so when I heard the news that the new chief of POEA is eyeing for an Online OEC Processing, my reaction was parang WOW lang kagaya neto >> BIG WORD. I mean, seriously, processing of documents for more than four hours is not getting any way better. This Online OEC for Balik Manggagawa would really be of great help and this better be good.
